International day for biodiversity
The United Nations proclaimed May 22 the "International Day for Biological Diversity" to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.
Each year a different theme is chosen to highlight a certain aspect of Biodiversity. Countries are asked to organise their national celebrations around this theme.
