In particular, the authors investigated how biodiversity is framed, and suggest that more diverse approaches to biodiversity should be considered instead of only the currently prevailing focus on its instrumental value. To improve the contribution of environmental impact assessment to baseline data for biodiversity monitoring, they advocate a more consistent methodology and the involvement of local universities and research institutes.
